The Association of Biblical Counselors resources and supports local churches in biblical counseling ministry through our church equipping initiatives.
The Association of Biblical Counselors is committed to encourage, equip and enlist followers of Jesus Christ in the personal ministry of God’s Word. To help fulfill this mission, ABC has several ministry concentrations, including our Church Equipping initiatives, which exist to proclaim and minister the gospel of Jesus Christ for the glory of God by resourcing and supporting local churches in Biblical counseling ministry.
While our strategies for Church Equipping offer individual training and certification, our ultimate goal is to connect people to local congregations where they can learn and practice Biblical counseling ministry under the care and oversight of their church leaders. We pray to fulfill this initiative through four primary ways:
Biblical Counseling Resources from ABC
The Association of Biblical Counselors as a whole, and Church Equipping in particular, is committed to writing, developing and providing strong biblical counseling resources to churches and ministries all over the world.
Training Events
Whether it’s with 500 pastors, leaders, lay counselors and professional counselors alike at our annual Called to Counsel Conference or among local training workshops and forums, our Church Equipping staff prays to fulfill the overall mission of ABC through live teaching, training and worship.
Certification
Our Biblical Counseling Certification through ABC exists to provide a consistent standard and a tangible measure of training in biblical counseling. While we don’t consider certification essential for anyone to be equipped or able to counsel, but we believe certification can be helpful in establishing a clear, consistent, and biblical understanding and approach to the personal ministry of the Word for all who have received it.
Regional Training Centers
Within Church Equipping, we pray, hope and long for the Church of Jesus Christ to be the primary vehicle for multiplying biblical counseling in the world. For this reason, our aim is for local churches to become Regional Training Centers where members of the body can be trained, strengthened and enlisted in the personal ministry of God’s Word.
