Ways to Become Certified with ABC
The Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC) offers multiple pathways to certification, allowing you to pursue training in a format that best fits your schedule, location, and learning preferences.
Training Churches and Training Centers (Non-Church)
ABC partners with a growing network of Training Churches and Centers across the United States and Internationally to provide in-person or virtual training and certification.
At a Training Church or Center, you will:
- Participate in structured, guided instruction
- Receive personalized feedback and grading
- Complete all requirements for ABC certification directly through the center
If you prefer a classroom or group-learning environment, we encourage you to contact a Training Center near you to learn about upcoming opportunities to begin ABC1 certification.

Online Certification (Self-Paced)
For those who need flexibility, ABC offers a fully online, self-paced certification option.
Through the online program, you will:
- Complete coursework on your own schedule
- Engage readings, assignments, and exams independently
- Receive grading and certification directly from ABC
ABC Cohorts
ABC Cohorts are designed to support students who are enrolled in the online certification program. Gather with a group from your church and meet together!
In a cohort, you will:
- Receive mentoring and encouragement by being together
- Engage in discussion and guided learning
- Access additional resources and support as needed from ABC
While cohorts provide valuable community and guidance, all grading and certification are completed directly through ABC.
